In this article you are going to why psychology is important to us and  how psychology makes impact in our daily life.

The Importance Of Psychology

Lets learn a little about what actually does psychology teaches us .

To makes things easy , the study of psychology is all about human”s mind , and this include , people’s behavior, performance, and mental operations. It also used to treat mental health issues ,  improve education, employment, and relationships etc .

The most fascinating about psychology is that , it able to “read” someone”s mind just like Professor X in the movie X-men . Through psychology , we get to learn why a human behave in such matter . By understanding this , we can use it on marketing (to attract more people to buy ) , on fixing a relationship etc .

Psychology In Real Life Scenario #1.

THE END RESULT : You buy something from someone who have helped you /gave you free things ,previously.

You wan to buy a face wash for example , and you went to this ABC store and DEF store to compare the pricing and quality .

via GIPHY

ABC Store:

When you walked into the ABC store , the sales person greeted you warmly , ask you couple of questions , and give you free tester to go home and try .

Product price: $199

Quality :4/5

DEF Store:

When you walked into the DEF store , the sales person greeted you warmly , ask you couple of questions , instead of  giving you free tester to go home and try , they straight recommend you to buy their products .

Product price: $149

Quality :4.5/5

CONCLUSION:

You will go back to store ABC to buy their stuff even thou the price is higher and and quality is not as good as DEF store. WHY? Because they given you the tester , and subconsciously you feel like you “owe” them something. In order to “pay” them back , you buy something from them . In psychology this is called  Reciprocity theory .

Psychology In Real Life Scenario #2

THE END RESULT : You choose to buy from Sam because everyone is taking about him .

via GIPHY

You wanted to choose a personal trainer to loss 10kgs in 12 months time .

Train With Sam

Sam does alot of social marketing . He post on instagram about his client transformation result , he post his training session etc.

Price :$200 per session

Knowledge :3/5

Train With Mike

Mike DOES NOT do much social marketing . He did not/minimal post on instagram  about his services .

Price :$150 per session

Knowledge :5/5

CONCLUSION :

You will choose to train with Sam instead of Mike , although obviously Sam is a better option for you . In psychology this is called Authority .As an authority in your industry, it will make your customers more likely to trust and buy your service or product.

If you are someone that is fascinating about Psychology , this course is definitely for you .More than 190 k students enrolled in this online psychology course by University Toronto.

What Is This Course All About ?

This course will highlight the most interesting experiments within the field of psychology, discussing the implications of those studies for our understanding of the human mind and human behavior. We will explore the brain and some of the cognitive abilities it supports like memory, learning, attention, perception and consciousness. We will examine human development – both in terms of growing up and growing old – and will discuss the manner in which the behavior of others affect our own thoughts and behavior. Finally we will discuss various forms of mental illness and the treatments that are used to help those who suffer from them.

The fact of the matter is that humans routinely do amazing things without appreciating how interesting they are. However, we are also routinely influenced by people and events without always being aware of those influences. By the end of this course you will have gained a much better understanding and appreciation of who you are and how you work. And I can guarantee you that you’ll learn things that you’ll be telling your friends and family about, things that will fundamentally change the way you think of yourself and others. How can you resist that?!

This course is by Professor Steve Joordens . Steve Joordens teaches a very large (i.e., 1900 student) Introductory Psychology class at the University of Toronto at Scarborough.
